I wanted to write to express my thoughts after I attended the March 13 Rockford City Council meeting. Having recently retired this was my first City Council meeting. I was interested in the discussion with respect to the proposals for the City Market expansion and more significantly theGorman partnership proposal for redevelopment of the Amerock building.
I was pleased to see the approval of the expansion of the indoor Rockford City Market. Thank you and well done.
I must say that I was disappointed by the tone of the discussion with respect to the Amerock redevelopment. My perception was that none of the aldermen were excited about the proposal.
The comments about finding another marquee name besides Hilton, constructing a modern-looking, architecturally less appealing building, and looking to build a larger convention space than planned all appeared to promote further discussion and delay as more palatable for the City Council than moving forward with the proposal being considered.
