City Development Review Board OKs Request From Ernie Pomerleau
The city Development Review Board approved a plan this week to divide the Waterfront Plaza in two parcels to benefit the on-site Wendy’s restaurant.
The restaurant building and the property it sits on are owned by the Pomerleau family. Former Newport City resident Tony Pomerleau built the strip mall decades ago.
The Waterfront Plaza leases the Wendy’s building to the franchise operation.
But the Wendy’s Corporation has a new policy of owning the buildings where its restaurants are located, said Charles Elliott, the city’s zoning administrator.
So Ernie Pomerleau wants to satisfy the new needs of the Wendy’s Corporation while still keeping the Waterfront Plaza operational.
