As a candidate for re- election to the Vermont House of Representatives (Orleans-2) here are some things you should know about me and where I stand on some of the important issues.
Born in Newport and raised in North Troy, I graduated from North Country Union High School in 1973. I began a career in law enforcement with the Newport Police Department in 1978, and retired in 2010, as Deputy Chief Patrol Agent with the U.S. Border Patrol in Swanton.
My work in law enforcement provided me with a keen understanding of the challenges of keeping communities safe, which was part of my drive to run for the Vermont House in 2014. During the last legislative session, through my service on the House Judiciary Committee and Joint Senate/House Judicial Retention Committee, I worked on issues that included Vermont’s highway safety laws like Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs and Driving with a Suspended License, as well as tackling marijuana legislation.
