On Tuesday, August 25th, USCIS released a statement announcing that they would be averting a scheduled furloughing of more than 13,000 employees (70% of their workforce).
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is a government agency that provides immigration services. One major focus of USCIS is handling visa and green card applications. Furloughing 70% of their workforce would have effectively halted many of the agency’s operations likely including immigration petition adjudication.
